Sonoma thoughts

I'll admit, it was refreshing to hear the cheering for Kyle Busch for a change. As most of you know, I am not a huge Busch fan but even still, I liked the cheering. He dominated the race and deserved the win. Congrats.
Other thoughts:
Overall, I thought it was a boring race until the last 20 laps or so.
First, let me just say that I absolutely hate it when they show how a driver's feet work the pedals in the car on television. If they must show that, they should consider doing a split screen at the very start of the lesson so those of us who don't want to see it can watch the race.
Rough day for Kevin Harvick who took a big hit in the point standings. He got loose and spun, hit Jamie McMurray who then hit Tony Stewart. They were all in the top-ten. Harvick ended the day with a 30th place finish.
Tony Stewart, my pick for the race, finished 10th. What a performance by him though. He was involved in the wreck, mentioned above and was sent way back in the field and still had a solid finish. Did anyone see his interview after the race with Marty Snider? It was pretty comical.
What did you think of the race?
The Nationwide race was at The Milwaukee Mile this past weekend. I caught most of the race. I don't know what to think of Joey Logano. There's been so much hype about him. I realize he is only 18 years old and a rookie but seriously, he comes across so arrogant on television. Did any of you watch that race? He bumped and banged so many drivers that night, including Brad Keselowski. It looked as though Keselowsi had the car to beat until that run-in.
When interviewed at the end of the night, he didn't so much as apologize for all the cars he banged into. He was more disappointed with his second-place finish. He just seems so unappreciative. I don't know. What do you think?
All for now...

Q, What was Tony the Tiger so mad about following the race that he had to take it out seemingly on the media after the race.

He was annoyed because Kevin Harvick was being an idiot and driving WAY over his head and destroying people for no good reason. Oh wait, that couldn't have been Harvick doing that, he's the same guy that has been railing for weeks about what an idiot Kyle Busch is for doing exactly that. Harvick needs to quit trying to be the spokesperson for the garage (sorry Kevin you're not Jeff Burton)and start listening to his own whining ways about other drivers.

Rob, I dont think Tony was all that mad at the incident on the track. Marty Snider asked him about the incident, Tony responded with "I havent seen the replay yet" That wasnt spicy enough for Marty so he asked the same question again. Thats when Tony got a little short. Nascar pit reporters need to remember that these are Cup drivers and not Soap opera stars.

PS. I think Kyle Busch made a big statement about his talent and his focus on the championship.

Someone during an interview last week had asked Kyle how he thought he'd do during the race since he was not considered a good road course driver. Big mistake. Do not let Kyle Busch know you think he cannot do something. Though I didn't pick him here for the win, I did keep him tops in my fantasy leagues and scored big this week. There are many Nascar fans who do appreciate Kyle Busch's talent.Nice to see them finally showing it.
Thank goodness Kyle did not drive in the Nationwide race. Did anyone notice that there are some other impatient, hot tempered drivers? Poor Keselowski. Would have liked to see him get another win. Congrats to Edwards and kudos to him for showing his respect by driving a Polish victory lap and not doing the back flip.
Logano is not setting well with me yet, but he is like a lot of other new drivers-a smart alecky rookie- and if he proves he has enough talent to back it up, than so be it.
I think I may shut off the sound from now on so I don't have to listen to stupid commentary or stupid questions from the sportscasters. Don't they pay attention to what's going on? Several times on Saturday night they mentioned the back up drivers who qualified cars for Cup drivers. I don't know how many times they mentioned what a great job Mike Skinner did when he never qualified a car in the first place.
And the interview with Tony. How many times do you have to ask the same question and get the same answer? Marty was deliberately trying to stir up trouble between Harvick and Smoke mentioning that this was the second incident this year between the two. During another interview with Tony last week, he was asked how he thought he could get up through traffic since he was starting so far back. Tony said it was easy, he'd just put his car where there were no other cars. I have two really stupid questions I am saving to send in to TSL. I know how much Stewart likes them.
Did everyone hear that Casey Mears will be out at HMS next year? Stewart has made several references to going to the darkside lately and we are wondering if he is referring to HMS.We should know what his plans are soon. I feel sorry for Mears knowing HMS' history of how they treat the outgoing drivers.
