Congrats to Kyle Busch for spanking the field and winning yesterday. I do however think that Carl Edwards would have given him a run had a caution come out.
On lap 17, the big wreck, pictured above, ruined the day for a handful of drivers that are in the top-twelve in the point standings. Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Clint Bowyer also got a little damage from it.
Stewart's interview after the crash was comical. He said: "I take 100 percent responsibility. It’s my fault for being even anywhere close to Elliott (Sadler)." He also said: "If I’m within a half a lap of him, I expect that to happen. When I hit him, it caused all the guys behind us to wreck. So it’s my fault."
I disagree with Stewart though, I don't blame Elliott Sadler for the wreck. I fully blame David Gilliland for the big crash. He could have easily slowed up in time to not hit Elliot Sadler.
I took a cat nap shortly after the wreck. I didn't think the race was all that exciting. I don't like races where the leader laps the entire field. There were only six drivers on the lead lap at the completion of the race.
-- Nationwide:
Did you watch the Nationwide race? I didn't because I was still making my way back from New Hampshire Motor Speedway watching motor cycle racing. But we did get back in time to see the last 50 laps. We were back in time to see Kyle Busch wreck. I loved, loved, loved his interview after the wreck. "Duh."
I will say this: He looked a little like Danica Patrick stomping through the pits though. Whenever he wrecks, he whines like a little girl when he's interviewed. Kyle, you don't have to win EVERY race. There's gonna be racing incidents here and there. If you missed it, here it is:
-- Craftsman Truck Series:
Congrats to Scott Speed winning his first Craftsman Truck Series win. This was the third straight first-time winner in the series.
-- Camping World East:
It looked to be a promising weekend for Ricky Carmichael who started from the pole but he was involved in a 16-car pileup on lap 128. He ended up finishing 26th. Others that I am watching: Austin Dillon finished second and Steve Park finished 8th. Here are the race results from that series.
All for now. What did you think of the racing weekend?
I also found the race non exciting, as my two hopefuls were in the early wreck. I think Kyle is an exciting addition to the race scene this year but I wish the seasoned points drivers could do something about competing with him.
Wrecking or losing is not in Kyle's vocabulary. Why is it that if a driver people don't like is mad because he didn't finish well, it's called whining? Don't you think Carl Edwards' comments afterwards is whining? That's twice he's finished 2nd to Kyle and obviously is upset about it.
I don't think a caution would have helped anybody catch Busch. He's on his game. Tell those seasoned drivers to get up on the wheel and race. They are going to get left behind in the dust.Kyle is already 40 points ahead when it comes to the Chase with lots more races to win this season. This kid is just good and we are probably looking at this season's champion.
Tony was being sarcastic. Kind of took the enjoyment out of the race to have so many of the top ten knocked off early. I am waiting for the race when all the Gibbs teams are racing each other for the win.
Congrats to Joey Logano for having a good run.Tony's Prelude to the Dream at Eldora is on PPV Wednesday night.
For us that picked Roush drivers to win, we came close.Boy, does Jack want to beat those Toyotas!
The last couple of years that Rusty raced, if he didn't have bad luck he wouldn't have had any luck at all. I think that bad karma got left behind and they need to do some kind of exocism in that shop.
I agree that David Gillaland could have lifted, assuming of course that belted into his cocoon like seat with his helmet strapped down so it doesnt move, that he could see out the left side of the car.( Im pretty sure he was looking out the lower right side of the windshield). Or if his spotter had a chance to holler in his radio. But he didnt, and the fact of the matter is that it was Sadlers fault, even Stewart said so.(funny). Impressed with Kyles season, hope we dont find out he has Harry Gant syndrome(remember the illegal rear ends after he was smoking the field one year?)

It's funny that you mention illegal parts on Kyle's car, Justracethecar. I was thinking about that after last weeks wing infractions and remembering when JJ and Kyle had illegal shocks at Dover a few years ago. I figured that Kyle's car has to be the most scrutinized car in Sprint Cup. It is torn down EVERY week from good finishes. And it's not only his Sprint Cup car that he is good in. It's two teams' worth of Nationwide and one team's Truck. It keeps going back to him just being that good.
The race overall was pretty boring. I don't need cautions for excitement. I just need good racing.
Drivers should be competitive and have a desire to win. If they come away from a crash (created by their own teammate, none the less!) with a smile and happy words, they can't be doing their jobs effectively. Especially in Kyle's case, he had the car to beat.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
