Burnout Competition and the All-Star race

From what I can tell from Jayski, the Burnout Competition will be held tomorrow night before the qualifying event for the All-Star Race at Lowe's Motor Speedway. It will be televised live as part of the pre-race coverage.

Of the five drivers entered, who do you think will be the best? Will it be...

Clint Bowyer:

Kyle Busch:

Jimmie Johnson:

(and yes, that IS Jimmie Johnson somewhere in there)

Greg Biffle:

Kevin Harvick:

Personally, I think Harvick will be the man to beat. Although, of all the pictures I have posted above, I think Bowyer's burnout is the best. But then again, the competition isn't called Bump Draft's posted burnout pictures competition, now is it?

Who do you think will win the title and the $10,000 prize to donate to the charity of their choice?

As for the All-Star Race, I think Rowdy may be the man to beat. I hate picking him but he IS the best at moving people out of his way and with a million bucks on the line, he should be fun to watch. Who do you think will take home the million?

Here's the schedule of events.

Kyle Busch is winning everything and he will win this too. This contest was made for “Houdini.”

I don't know. I think Harvick is the King of the Burnouts.

Kyle would take out his own brother to try to win the race. Wait....he did that already. Go, Wild Thing.

I think Kyle Busch is going to be his own enemy at this race. We have seen him do some crazy stuff while points racing, I think he’ll wreck himself for a million bucks! I’m going with JR!

Keep the bandwagon rolling... I will go with Kyle for the All Star win. That is, if he is in front in the last few laps. If he is second, the third place guy will win. Harvick always does the best burnouts, but Johnson has incredible car control. Remember, these guys have to do 360's and cross a finish line.

Hey Darrel, here's hoping it is Jr.'s night. Would love to see him win a non-points event and keep that hilarious winless streak alive. Yes, you have to love how Junior fans insist that his Gatorade Duel win this year at Daytona was a win. Kinda of tells you a lot about the average race fan today when the guy who hasn't won in 2 years is the most popular driver there is. It's not about racing any more, it's about who gets the sponsorship and has the most commercials. Sad really. Keep racking up those "good points finishes" Junior, daddy would be proud to know you're just another points racer now !!!

I agree with you,SJH. Rick Hendrick knew what he was doing and is probably laughing all the way to the bank.

The All Star Race is too unpredictable for me to expect Jr to do anything, but I sure expect something out of him next week in the 600. I am disappointed in him for allowing Kyle to get the jump on him in Darlington.

SJH We like JR because of his personality andd the legacy of his Dad. We root for him because of this and the fact that he is a good driver. He has proven that this year. Aren't they all pt. chasers? I take issue with you comment to DAD. Show me one racer who isn't a pt. chaser, SJH! racefan, I am surprised at your agreeing with SJH. I posted an email yesterday with my prediction for the burnout competition. I say Jimmy Johnson, even though I am not fond of him, will win. Should be a great evening for tv and racing.

Jr said he was willing to settle for a good finish. That's not good enough in my book. Depends on what you want to see, I guess, a guy who'll drive around and settle for whatever he gets or a guy who's out to win and will do whatever it takes. I will take the latter.

I like Jr but I do not believe he'll win a championship unless he starts fighting for it.

racefan: What do you mean by fighting for it? Playing dirty and mouthing off like Kyle? Maybe you have a point, but I find it hard to believe JR isn't out there fighting for it. Do you think he likes not winning for two years? I have to admire Kyle's ability and his win streak, but that doesn't mean I don't think JR isn't good and can't win. Maybe he needs to run them all off the track and get more verbal. Then he might win your respect???

Yes, I would like to see Jr get more aggressive and stop trying to please everybody.

If it makes you feel better, I did pick Jr to win in a couple of my fantasy leagues. The rest of my fantasy picks went to Kyle. I might pick him next week too, but we'll see what happens tonight.

What the devil was Eury thinking, putting on four tires and losing the good position of the 88? Not a very exciting event, but glad a nice guy won.

I think I may have done very poorly in my fantasy leagues for this week. Kahne was not on my list. And again I picked the wrong Hendrick driver.

If you have ever heard Jr talk to Eury Jr, you will know why he went 4 tires instead of 2. Most likely it was Dale's idea.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
