Dega thoughts

First lets talk about the Nationwide race. Dumb is the only word that comes to mind when thinking of Kevin Lepage. He is responsible for causing the "Big One" in the race. Period. Did you see it? In his interview he really doesn't take any responsibility, which is absolutely ridiculous. You be the judge.

Here it is:

-- Congrats to Tony Stewart for his first Talledega win.

Now on to Sprint Cup.

-- Surprise, surprise, I did not pick the winner. I've got to start picking Kyle Busch I guess. He was the victor yesterday and is just on fire. Here are a few of the thoughts that ran through my head:

-- Good call for Joe Nemechek to qualify without the alternator to give him an advantage. He was a go or go home car anyway. It worked out in the end, he made it into the race, finished 25th and gained two spots in the point standings.

-- Where in the world did Clint Bowyer come from? I didn't see him during the entire race but he pulled off a ninth place finish.

-- Poor Tony Stewart going from hero (winning the Nationwide race) to zero (coming in 38th in the Sprint Cup race). Talk about an up and down weekend.

All for now.

No ‘dega update would be complete without noting that Morgan Sheppard ran thirteenth Saturday.

I know people look at his sponsor and think he’s a token making his point- but anytime a 66 year old wheels home in the Top 15- one should be respectful. Heck, he’s taking it seriously. And it wasn’t a fluke due to the wrecks; he ran strong on the leap lap all race.

Anyway, he’s the last guy who actually ran moonshine left on the circuit- seriously. And I was rooting for the green car all day.

It's amazing that Morgan is still out there racing and is actually in better shape than a lot of these kids.

Thanks for the Morgan Sheppard update. I was just thinking today that he was running thirteenth BEFORE the Big One. Good to see him run well. I think that he gets more respect at his age than most of the young guys.
It's a good thing that you can not swear on this blog because I have a few choice words about Kevin Lepage. His actions were stupid and dangerous. Nascar did a great job policing the merging process, as was witnessed on Saturday and Sunday. Many drivers make mistakes, but there should be a reprimand to accompany his.
It's a shame that Racefan is still in Alabama since it would be good to hear her thoughts on Tony having his arm around Chrissy Wallace every time they show her on TV.

I am tired of listening to whine butt Jeff Gordan. Every week he whines about something. This week - it was Jr he wha - wha'd about! Who wants to cheer for a whiner?

What about Rowdy Busch coming from a lap down to WIN! How many people have done that at Talladega before??

Dale Earnhardt Day today at DEI. All the kids will be there to talk to fans and sign autographs as well as all the DEI drivers, Dr. Jerry Punch and others.

Happy Birthday, Dale.

From Jen: Welcome back... How was your trip?

I believe Bill Elliott came from 2 laps down under green and won at Dega.

The idiocy of the "lucky dog" takes away any glory whatsoever of coming from a lap down these days anyway.

I actually picked a winner at Dega. Champagne for everyone. I'd like to thank my sponser Juan Pablo Montoya and the lucky dog. Also everyone playing in the dirt at Eldora speedway.I'd like to thank Chrissy Wallace for being a Wallace and letting the Smoke settle around her.

Jen: Congrats on picking the winner! You are 1 of 3 people that have succeeded in picking the winner since the blog started. The other person this week that succeeded was son of racefan. Ms. Boogity has also picked a winner. She was the first. I'm still batting ZERO on my picks...uugh.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
