My Phoenix pick

I'm going with a Richard Childress Racing car this week for the win at Phoenix. Although, I almost hate picking a driver now for a race because as you know, I have never picked a winner in the history of this blog. For yucks, let's start keeping track this year. I am 0-for-7 for 2008. I'm going on the record right here and now saying that I will NEVER pick Clint Bowyer this year. I would never want to jinx him.

Since about Wednesday, I had my mind made up that I was going to go with an RCR driver for Saturday night's race. Well actually two drivers but based on what I said above, I'm not mentioning the name of the second...

I get in to work this morning and look up the race lineup (because I didn't get a chance to watch qualifying) and the driver I am picking is sitting there in 39th position. I'm sticking to my guns though and going with Jeff Burton. He has two wins here and has historically run well at Phoenix. Besides the fact that RCR is HOT this season.

Who are you picking to win tomorrow night?

How about Ryan Newman earning his 43rd pole?! Incredible.

Did anyone watch qualifying last night? I didn't but got called in to the living room to watch the interview with Elliott Sadler. Did you see it? It was really funny. I guess Carl Edwards backed his truck or motor coach (I can't recall which) into Sadler's motor coach.

Sadler was saying something to the effect that Edwards is a great driver on the track and has won a few this year...but can't back the truck/motor coach up. It was funny.

All for now. Have a great weekend everyone!

Burton is a good choice for the win. Has a good record at Phoenix. He will definitely be in my top picks for the fantasy leagues. Not sure if I will choose him to win.

I am betting that Newman will not win and may slide out of the top ranks this week.

I'm going with Kyle to win. Edwards, Johnson, and Bowyer will be in the top five. But, what do I know? I got lucky and am the only blogger who has picked a winner. Oh, maybe racefan got a winner recently?

I did pick Hamlin to win at Martinsville. I came close last week, but picked Edwards to come in 2nd instead of 1st.

This week is a tough one. I am going to pick somebody totally different this week and go with Mark Martin to win, although I am expecting Burton, Harvick, Jr and Kyle to be right there too.

From Jen: You picked JGR cars in general... You said something about Hamlin, Stewart and Busch. I think the only person who has picked the winner is Ms. Boogity.

I saw that on TV, Edwards must have flipped out when he saw what he had done.. get it??
I think Kyle Busch will find his way to victory lane again

From Jen: You're funny DW. I hope Kyle doesn't win...

Guess you are right, Jen. I did not make an "official" pick. I did pick Hamlin in some of my fantasy leagues.I will officially go with Mark for this one.

According to the Home Depot Racing site, if Tony continues to have good runs and moves up each week, he should be on top by the Charlotte race.

Elliot's a really funny guy.

From Jen: Mark Martin?

Here's some interesting news:

Alonzo Bodden, winner of Last Comic Standing 3, will turn the tables on NASCAR with his comedy act at Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s new nightclub, Whisky River, in Charlotte, N.C. SPEED will air Bodden’s NASCAR ’08 All-Star Comedy Special on May 15 at 7 p.m. ET as part of the network’s nearly 90 hours of coverage of All-Star Week.

Is there any other Mark in the race?

From Jen: Just surprised, I guess. You usually pick Tony Stewart. I like that you're branching out though.

Smoke is due for a win and he is always good in Arizona. To bad Jared has lost all that weight- Tony needs some rear grip with all that downforce in the front.

From Jen: SAL! Welcome back... thanks for the smile.

This is Kevin Harvick's playground. He seems to run well at Phoenix. I will pick him to win it.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
