First, what a horrendous crash Michael McDowell went through during qualifying. I think that’s one of the worst crashes I have seen. I was truly relieved to see him walk away.
Congratulations to Carl Edwards on his third victory this year. (big yawn)
Here are a few observations from the race yesterday:
-- I realized during the start of this race that I now have a driver that I focus on. Clint Bowyer, pictured above, is my focus. Ever since Dale Earhardt Sr. died, I’ve liked several drivers. But I have never watched any one driver since his death…until now. It feels good, too.
-- Jeff Gordon's bad luck continues at Texas Motor Speedway. He must absolutely hate this track by now. Why can’t that team get his car to go there? I don’t get it. Jimmie Johnson had a heck of a car as did Dale Earnhardt Jr. What is wrong with that picture?
-- Did anyone else notice that there weren't SAFER barriers on infield retaining walls? Do you think J.J. Yeley is going to refuse to race at that track again until they install them? Hhmmm....
Boring, disappointing race. Even though one of my favorites, Edwards, won. I like Bowyer, too, Jen. I know, racefan, we are just women, influenced by personalities! What the devil is the comment, JG needs to be penalized for "accidentally" wrecking his car. I don't think many drivers would do that especially egocentric Jeff. Call me crazy, but he didn't ask for the car to be a dud. Red Sox game in Phoenix? Gee, guess I am unplugged to baseball season right now. Anyone have any thoughts on why JR ended up where he did?
Sorry, MsBoogity, but there are drivers who do that. It has happened in the past. Jr got caught and penalized a few years ago for just that and others have done it and gotten away with it.
Guess the Sox are not playing in Phoenix, but DW and others are going to the game Friday.Must be nice to be able to go where ever you want.
The HMS cars just don't seem to have the right stuff at the end of the races. Or it's because other teams have stepped it up because they are the ones to beat. I would look for Jr to do very well at Talladega. Perhaps get his win.
How did they prove that Jr. wrecked on purpose so he wouldn't have to drive it? If they penalized him, they must have had proof. It doesn't make sense. Just come into the pit and stay there if the car isn't worth racing. Or do they have to answer to someone else? I don't pay a lot of attention to things like this, as they don't affect the standings much and I try to enjoy Nascar for what it is--a sport, enjoyment. There are bad people and bad doings in every sport but this is a wreckless, money wasting method. Thanks for enlightening me, racefan.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
