Bristol thoughts

Burton10317082.jpg

A 1-2-3 finish for Richard Childress Racing, a first for RCR. I had goosebumps as they crossed the line, just a fantastic finish. Congrats to Jeff Burton who beat out teammates Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer to the finish line.

Here are a few random thoughts that crossed my mind as I watched yesterday’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway:

-- Let me just say this….what a cute little pumpkin Jeff Gordon’s little girl is. She actually looks like a spitting image of him, only cuter of course.

-- There should be a rule about allowing someone in the broadcast booth when you have laryngitis. It was more painful than normal listening to Darrell Waltrip try to talk.

-- I hate it when they only show the top-ten in the rundown during the race. Uugh, it really urkes me, like we aren’t watching other drivers that are outside the top-ten. Give me a break.

-- It’s getting harder and harder to defend Juan Pablo Montoya. That's all I'm saying on that.

-- Once again, I jinxed my pick to win the race. In this case, I’m not that sad about it. Kyle Busch’s power steering went on the car.

-- Dale Earnhardt Jr. was the best finishing Hendrick car again. Nice.

-- When they were interviewing Kevin Harvick after the race asking him about his error on the track when he took out Tony Stewart, I jokingly said: “He’s scared.” I mean, wouldn’t you be? You never know what that freak Tony Stewart will do when he’s mad. Seriously.

-- How much do you love Clint Bowyer?! That guy is the bomb. His post race interview was hilarious. If you missed it, he said something about Stewart and back waxing at Harvick's house and that it should be interesting. And then he said that he may have to go over and check it out and bring some boxing gloves for them. I think Bowyer's my new hero.

-- I blame Harvick that I have to look at Stewart for one more week without a haircut. I don't think Stewart's cutting his hair until he wins again. Thanks Harvick.

-- Goodbye Dale Jarrett. Sorry you couldn’t have had a better finish than 37th for your last race.

Tony will actually be getting his back waxed today live on his radio show with Kevin Harvick hosting the show while it's being done.It is a charity fundraiser for Victory Junction.Tony and Kevin are good friends. They'll work it out.

The hair cut will come when he wins his first race this year.

There are alot of comments on Nascar.com from fans a little upset with Jr and the way he complained to his crew all day yesterday. They don't feel he should have talked to them that way.

Bristol is one of those tracks where the TV camera cannot capture all of the excitement. Watching Tony negotiate traffic from row 45 was incredible, as was his 200 lap duel with Harvick. Denny was a feel good pick with the way he battled back. Is there anyone who would have put money on Jeff Burton with 20 laps to go? And Aric Almirola had an awesome finish! Finally some good racing back at Bristol.

Tony and harvick are the top two fiercest competitors out there in terms of aggression. That's why they were fighting for the lead. They will work it out and have fun with it at Martinsville.

Jr has always been rough on his crew. That's why he has to work with family! His car was never a winner, so to get fourth or fifth was great if you ask me.

A high point of yesterday for me was seeing DW get that #11 race car. That was too cool.

Get that webmaster to fix the codes so they work, Jen. They're a pain in the a---

There are many people complaining that the race was not exciting at all. I have no idea what they are talking about. Even though the TV coverage could only cover so much, they did a good job at covering the major battles. Side by side racing in Bristol is amazing.

Well, the waxing is done. Don't know how much $$ was raised. Harvick and Smoke have made up but had fun on TSL pretending they were really mad at each other just to stir things up.

I like the new Bristol. Before, the only way to pass was to knock somebody out of the way and there was so much of that, I couldn't keep up with it all. Now it's easier to catch the action.

I bet that the hair could be donated to someone- maybe science. See what species of racer, Smoke really is. I bet it hurt.

Word is it was quite painful. He should have kept it on until later. He is supposedly taking a mini vacation to Alaska.

Maybe without hair, it will be harder for the bears to get a hold of his chubby bubby. If he cuts the locks off his head he almost could pass for human.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
