Who Cares If Kyle Busch Beat Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Hendrick To Victory Lane

Busch0310082.jpg

I think there's a bit too much hype and focus on who got to victory lane first. Here's one: "Kyle Busch Beats Dale Earnhardt Jr. And Hendrick In Race To Victory Lane" Who cares?

I'll admit, Shrub had a great car yesterday. He's the youngest driver to win at Atlanta Motor Speedway, he's the first to take Toyota to victory lane, plus it's a first for a driver to win both a Craftsman Truck and Sprint Cup race in the same weekend. That is a great reason to puff up like a peacock. Fantastic. He is having an excellent year. Period.

Busch and Gibbs.jpg

To play into the soap opera of who got the better deal, Hendrick vs. Gibbs and who got to victory lane first? Please. It is a bit ridiculous and also much too soon in the season for that. Only time will tell and we're a LONG way from the end of the season. Congrats to Busch for his first victory under the Joe Gibbs umbrella.

Come on! If JR had won you guys would all be running around cheering like you had just chugged 2 AMP Energy drinks! That would be the talk all week.
P.S. Don’t forget Rowdy was the first person to win in the C.O.T.

Come on, take your loss like a man. Don't you worry, Rowdy's got lots more like that in him and will be around at the end. Just watch next week at Bristol for some real excitement. How do you like him now HMS?

When was the last time Jimmie Johnson made a move that made you saw “Wow, now he can drive a car?” How about Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth? The list goes on and on. “Drivers wanted” isn’t just a Volkswagen ad campaign, it’s the sign that’s up outside the Joe Gibbs Racing Shop. Gibbs wants wheel men, not guys who consider being behind the wheel like a day at the office. Wheel men come with warts, they come with tempers. Think A.J. Foyt. Guys like Johnson and Kenseth aren’t wheel men, they’re extensions of good crew chiefs and good teams, interchangeable part in the machine. Give me a “driver” any day over a points racer. Rick Hendrick’s decision taking Junior over Kyle Busch wasn’t about putting the best driver behind the wheel of his car, it was about dollar signs and he saw many more of them in the eyes of Earnhardt than he did in Busch. When it comes down to hiring the driver that brings in more money and not the driver who has the chance for more wins then there are issues in racing.

Well said SJH. I totally agree. There is an issue with Na$car.

Kyle reminds me of the old school drivers;Rusty,DW,Dale Sr and others who went out there every week to win not to settle. He's brought back real racing.

Anyone see Rowdy race the truck this week? That was wild.

Texas Motor Speedway will pay a $15,000 bounty for any driver that gets mad enough to throw their helmet before the TMS race.

The money will go to the driver's charity of choice.

Congrats to Kyle. Twenty years from now when fans talk of race car DRIVERS from this era, Kyle's name will come up as often as anyone. That kid was just incredible in all three series this weekend. I said before that that kid makes his own lane on any track, including Oxford. His passes on the apron at Atlanta were awesome.

The race itself was less than stellar though. I hope they get the tire situation fixed.

It will not be a tire issue at Bristol this weekend though. It will be the wife's first time at any track other than Loudon. Look for me. I will be in turn 4 with about 60,000 others.

Great quote on Nascar.com---

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
