Atlanta pick: Jeff Gordon

Last week when I made my pick for who I thought would win the race, I told you that I may have been jinxing the driver that I pick. I had picked Jimmie Johnson to win at Las Vegas, a track that he had won three times in a row. So what happens? He ends up finishing 29th. Uugh.
So, here we go again, let's see if I can finally break the losing streak that I am on (I have NEVER picked the winner) and finally do so this week.
I am going with Jeff Gordon for the win. He has four victories at Atlanta Motor Speedway, including 12 top-fives, and 19 top-tens. He's had some pretty bad luck so far this year, but maybe this is the track that will turn his luck around.
The other driver I'll be watching is Bobby Labonte. He has 6 wins here, including 12 top-fives and 13 top-tens.
I'm betting Ryan Newman will get the pole. In his 12 starts here, 7 have started from pole position.
Who are you picking for the win?

Here's an interesting piece of AMS trivia:
500-mile race record (1.55-mile configuration): 163.633 mph
(3 hours, 3 minutes, 3 seconds) set by Dale Earnhardt (11/12/95)
I will make my pick after I make sure Tony and Kyle qualify. Ha!

Junior will get his first win in over 60 tries! Kyle will be second and Edwards third. Martin, Stewart, and Kahne will be in the top ten. It is going to be an exciting race.

If you get this right this week, MsBoogity, I'm using your picks in my fantasy league next time.

Oh well, I got two out of three right, just not the order. Stewart was second, racefan! I left out the word "are" before "running" in my last post. Sorry.

I totally agreed with your pick and am bummed that Jeff did not pull it off. While I am not a Kyle fan, he is arguably one of the most dedicated racers, also competiting in the truck series (for no compensation as I understand it) and the Nationwide series. So I think he deserves it.
And I agree with you on the tony Stewart sweat towel. Nasty is all I have to say.
