Give me a break ...

One more hour ... one more hour ... that's all they kept saying. It is so bogus that NASCAR kept us hanging ALL night long. Enough is enough. I felt completely toyed with.

I went to bed around midnight. I gave up. Seriously, did anyone stay up until 2 a.m. when they finally called the race?

I will tune in today at 1 p.m. from the newsroom but there's a big part of me that doesn't even want to watch it now because I have such a bad taste in my mouth about the whole thing. Ridiculous.

That's why I love my DVR. At 11:00, I set it to manually record 3 hours from 12:00 to 3. Then when I woke up this morning and found out the race had been postponed, I erased it and set new recordings for the Cup and Nationwide races today.

I've had that happen before, too, (with other sporting events as well) so I always add an extra hour on the end. What made me mad last year was there were a couple of races with rain delays, and ESPN carried part of the race on ESPN2, then moved the rest of it over to ESPN Classic. Still, the DVR's better than nothing.

I stayed up until 1. Fell asleep with Kasey Kahne's race scanner turned on on my laptop. Woke up at 2 to Kasey's crew chief saying something about tell the 19 they are going to be back in the morning. The race will start at 1. I then took out my head phones and went to bed. They should have just called it at 9 when it started rainging. Those poor drivers having to deal with those stupid time zone changes much have been exhausted. And then if we had gotten back in the race they would have been so tired out there racing.

O well I will be listening in the middle of class. GO Kasey!

Nascar knows that alot of people at the track on Sunday are not able to stay for Monday so they keep everyone around as long as possible to sell all their food and merchandise. You not only have to add extra time to your DVR, if you go to a race, you have to plan on that you might be there on Monday.

Starting the race was a wrong decision. They knew it was going to be good weather today. They should have spent the evening cleaning and drying the track. Good competitive cars wrecked for no good reason.

Just an FYI for the future, ESPN does reruns of the races in the middle of the night. The races are somewhat condensed so that they will fit within the alotted time. Fox, as far as I know, does not have reruns.

I watched util 9:30 and then I said enough is enough. My husband called me to DVR it at 1:00 so I did and there is only 35 laps left. I was so mad last night just call it all ready.

Congrats to Rowdy Busch for now leading the points in both the Sprint and truck series. One more to go.

you are right, enough is enough. I watched until 9:15 and switched over to the finals of NHRA. It was much more enjoyable to watch.
The DVR is not the answer. I programmed mine to record one of the races last year, and I always add time to the end just in case the race runs over, and the recording ended 2 laps before the end!

Good point Tammy with the DVR. But like Sally says, it's not always the most reliable... I have also on occasion not seen the completion of a race or two and they sometimes jump channels which completely screws things up.

I happened to be up anyway, so I was waiting for it to start back up and finally just went to bed. In the end, they should have called the race off hours sooner than they did.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
