The Midgets are coming
If I read correctly, there will be some 280 Midget cars trying to qualify for the 24-car race at the Chili Bowl in Tulsa, Okla. That is simply amazing. We will be purchasing this $24.95 pay-per-view event at the Lizotte residence to watch on Saturday night. Anyone else going to be watching?
Joe Gibbs resigned as head coach for the NFL's Washington team. Hhhmmm ... do you think he will be needed a bit more in the garage area to deal with Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart scuffles? (Just kidding.) But seriously, I don't see the two of them working well together. We'll see, I guess.
According to a press release from Roush Fenway Racing, Matt Kenseth's new crew chief will be 34-year-old Chip Bolin. The press release also states: "Throughout the years Bolin has served at Roush Fenway Racing as engineer of the No. 17 team, the research and development team, and different testing teams. But, in 2007, Bolin's role changed. First in February, when Bolin got his initial crack at being a crew chief in the Daytona 500, when incumbent Robbie Reiser began a four-race suspension."
Here are the testing speeds from this morning at Daytona International Speedway.
All for now ...

Joe Gibbs resigned because he wants to be there to celebrate in victory lane all the time with Smoke and Kyle this season, especially when the two of them are battling for the championship come Chase time.

Team Captain Smoke gets first win in a Toyota. Has to be I can't see it any other way.
Tony would race a shopping cart if it meant a chance at first place.

Wake up race fans!! I hope you enjoyed your long winter's nap since Miami-Homestead. Now that your Christmas ham is finished and your New Year's hangover is gone, the NASCAR season has unofficially started with testing at Daytona!! Then, we've got the Rolex 24 in a few weeks preceding Speedweek.
A couple of notes: Gibbs Racing will be the only team to challenge the talent of Hendrick Motorsports this season. I don't care that they have switched to Toyota. Tony, Denny, and Kyle will each make strong case for the Chase. Look for Rousch-Fenway to make improvements - especially Greg Biffle. You might see Bobby Labonte with a few more Top tens.
Most importantly, 2008 will be the year of Dale Earnhardt, Jr.'s rebound. I see him winning at least 3 races this season and contending for a strong top 5 finish.
Boogity Boogity Boogity - its almost time to go racin' boys!!!

I like your thinking, Jr. I can't wait to see Kyle and Tony going at it for the win!!
