New logo, Rusty rumor, Jarrett's retirement, weekend schedule

Simply put, the new Busch Series logo is ugly. Not that it matters a whole lot. I don't watch too many Busch races because as I have said before, it is basically just another Cup practice/race.

Did any of you hear that rumor about Rusty Wallace being replaced as analyst for ESPN/ABC? I am sitting here wondering just how I could have missed such a rumor. So I started reading some forums and some of them were saying that he was going to be replaced by Dale Jarrett, as Jarrett is retiring in 2008. But it was just that, A RUMOR. Rusty's not going anywhere.

Would it be nice to not have to listen to him during a race? Yup. I get sick of listening to him. But then again, I get sick of Boogety, Boogety, Boogety...

Speaking of Jarrett, kudos to him for saying he will be making a clean break after his retirement. He says he will not be an on again, off again driver. I hope that he does it. I hate the provisionals. Jarrett will however, race in the Bud Shootout and the first 5 races. He will also be in the All-Star race in May.

Here's the weekend schedule from nascar.com:

Sorry Jen, I don't find anything wrong with Rusty's announcing. I much prefer him over DW and his talking about "June Bug" every week, Michael Waltrip and let me tell you how Jimmy Spencer drives me nuts on some of the talk shows. The drivers he laughs at and makes comment about have forgotten more about racing then he will ever know! I do think that Dale Jarret would make a good announcer. He is impartial and has a lot of knowledge.

How could you get sick of Boogety Boogety Boogety!?!?! You guys speak of me like I'm not here! Ouch! Rusty is great, he tell's it like it is. Like when Gordon got into the back of June Bug (that's for Sal) Rusty says" That was not an accident, that's the kind of hit you give someone when you want them to go around backwards"
Jarret will be boring if he get's in the booth.
Rusty for President in 08!

I dislike Rusty's commentary. Would prefer Dale any day. His father was good. And I miss,"boogity, boogity."
By the way, Darrel will be the next driver to host the live chat on Nascar.com.

Rusty is too uptight. Probably afraid he'll get docked owner's points if he laughs on national tv.

So, who does everybody think will win tomorrow?? And who will be in the top five?

I think all this ESPN/ABC coverage is totally lame. Rusty is a good announcer, but the technical coverage is very poor. Have they ever heard of cameras? I'm watching Matt Kenseth getting sandwiched by two cars for the lead(on some little side split screen deal) yakking about who knows what and how good Kenseth is doing. About 2 minutes or so later Oh Jeff Gordon's got the lead. You might as well shut off the TV and listen to it on radio.

Jersl- I agree with your comments on the coverage. I cannot even begin to tell you (on this forum) just how mad I get when we come back from a television break and a restart has already taken place...or a lead change is taking place WHILE we are at the cutaway car.

I think Jeff Burton will win tomorrow, Marian, if his car doesn't blow up. Kyle, Jimmy, Jeff and Tony make up the rest of the top 5.

I really hate "Slick" and the cutaway car coverage. He looks like he's never gotten his hands dirty and I'm tired of seeing where the foam goes.During one race, Rusty had to show how brilliant one driver was to get up close to another in order to blow blow some paper off the front of his grill. How exciting was that! I feel like they are talking down to race fans and have to explain every little thing because we have no idea what's going on.

Come back, Darrel!! And Fox coverage.

After Martinsville practice, it was noted that Smoke's crew was the only bunch not working any more on their car. Interesting. Go, Tony!

LOL Sal, I tell my DH the same thing, that computer image of the valve pumping then bending and snapping makes me want to scream.

I think Smoke wants a win this weekend, he has my vote.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
