The sandbagger wins

gordon2.jpg

The sandbagger, a.k.a. Jeff Gordon, is your whiner, whoops I mean winner from yesterday. He was also the one crying the most about Jacques Villeneuve debuting in the Cup race yesterday at Talladega Superspeedway.

I couldn't help but feel bad for Villeneuve. Starting his first Cup race and having all this drama unfolding that he should not start at Talladega because well, it's Talladega. Get over it people!

He had a solid qualifying run in which he should have started the race in 6th but because everyone was nervous about the rookie being there, he made the decision to go to the back of the pack to start the race. I think they said he did it to gain the respect of the other drivers. Admirable, but in my opinion, not necessary and unfair.

As stated above, the sandbaggers, Gordon and Jimmie Johnson hung in the back of the field all day until the very end. A lot of the "racing" was one big freight train. It was a bit b-o-r-i-n-g to watch.

More bad luck for Jeff Burton, he blew a motor as did Martin Truex Jr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr., my pick to win. I should have known better.

Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch were involved in a wreck and finished 26th and 36th, respectively.

The rest of the Chase drivers: Denny Hamlin finished 4th, Kurt Busch - 7th, Tony Stewart - 8th, Clint Bower - 11th, Carl Edwards - 14th and Kevin Harvick, who dropped a cylinder finished 20th.

Why do you insist on putting Jeff Gordon down. Are you jealous because he knows how to get the job done.

Jealous? No. Disgusted? Yes. He was one of the driver's who cried the most about Villeneuve starting the race at Talladega. Aren't they all professionals? Give me a break.

Further, you can't call what he did racing. He sat in 33rd all day. He didn't even try to advance. So basically, the driver that was worried the most about Villenueve causing a big pile up, stayed behind him all day long.

I can’t help but wonder what nice young man you will rag on when Jeff decides to retire. I sort of thought he was trying to protect Villeneuve from perhaps going into a bad track with not enough experience in Nextel. :I truly think your article was a whole lot of SOUR GRAPES because Jeff is such a good driver and doing things just right this year to perhaps win the championship. Why don’t you pick on Tony Stewart for a change and he sure needs it.

Why pick on Tony? The top 12 are in the Chase because they were all better than the rest. Too bad for all of those that had blown engines.

Ok, yes, Jeff may be a good driver, but he's also a great whiner!!! And most of his wins have either been because of rain cancellation or pit strategy! NOT because he truely went out there and came all the way through the field and won the race!!!! Talent? NOT!!!!!

A sand bagger is someone who enters a competition a few levels below his or her ability to ensure an easy victory for them selves….like Harvick racing Busch series. The way I see it Gordon enters the highest level of competition Nascar has to offer…there for he’s not sandbagging.
I think he got 4 championships by doing something different then just pitting at the right time and leading during rain.
I think you all love him because it’s Thursday and you all are still whining about him WINNING. And don’t you all dislike him because of the whining????
Like him or not...he’s got talent

I am taking up a collection for DEI drivers for Hendrick or Gibbs engines figure five bucks from the Jr fans ought to get him through the last races- any takers.

I would give a donation of ten to put his step mom in the car and she how she does, after all she's an Earnhardt!

I know I am a little late on this one Jen, not sure if anyone will even read it. You anti - Gordons are a funny bunch. Winning championships is not about driving like hell to the front every week with reckless abandon. How many times have you watched races when until the end of the race you almost forgot Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, and even the Late Great Dale Earnhardt were even there. Being a Champion is about consistency, driving smart and being there to lead the most important last lap. Gordon is on his way to his fifth championship by being a talented smart driver. As for whining, do you remember the guy that drove the 2 car in the past? Gordons concern for having a rookie (yes Jacques is a rookie in these heavy ill handling cars) in the field doesnt even hold a candle to the rantings of Rusty Wallace.

Gordon Earnhardt- (welcome back)
I agree. He certainly wasn't driving like hell. The person that he was most worried about (Villenueve) he stayed BEHIND for almost the entire race. Does that make sense to you? Villenueve did just fine the entire race.

I agree that Villenueve did fine and is obviuosly a great driver. I did not see the race so I am not sure if the fact that Gordon stayed behind him makes sense or not, was he far enough back to miss an accident? my only complaint here is that You called Gordon a whiner, I take offense to that. I feel he is justified as the most successful active driver to voice his opinion especially on a trck where a rookie mistake or any mistake could mean someones life.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
