Kansas recap

I'm sorry folks, but this should be your winner from yesterday's race at Kansas. As much as it would have been nice to feel warm and fuzzy with Greg Biffle getting his first win of the year, that is just not going to happen. He never should have been rewarded the victory.
Here's a statement from Ramsey Poston, NASCAR Managing Director, Corporate Communications:
"When the caution came out on Lap 207 the field was frozen. At the time of the caution, the 16 was in the lead and maintained a reasonable speed and was declared the race winner. There is no passing under caution.
"By rule, cars under caution need to maintain a reasonable speed, which the 16 did. If it hadn’t maintained a reasonable speed or the car had come to a stop, then that car would not have won the race. In this instance the 16 maintained a reasonable speed, crossed the finish and won the race."
Despite what he says, I really don't think he maintained a reasonable speed. I do realize that they freeze the field under caution but he absolutely did not maintain speed, the pace car was leaving him.
As a matter of fact, Johnson and Bowyer had to pass him while he was down on the apron. When was the last time you watched a race and saw others cross the finish line BEFORE the "race winner?" I think that's another load of BS from NASCAR. What do you think?
Moving on...because I'm getting all worked up and grumpy all over again as I type this.
It was another wild race for a lot of the Chase drivers. Here's a few notes on what happened to some of them:
Kyle Busch - Crashed into the wall early on. (thanks to Dale Earnhardt Jr.)
Martin Truex Jr. - Was involved in a wreck shortly after the restart from being red-flagged due to heavy rain.
Matt Kenseth - Victim of the same wreck that Truex was involved in.
Jeff Burton - He got caught pulling a fender out while uncovering his car from the rain delay. He got penalized and sent back to the longest line on the restart of the race. Then to make matters worse, later in the race he lost fuel pressure.
Tony Stewart - He blew a tire. He was checked up on the race track and Kurt Busch hit him. (And no, I don't think it was Busch's fault.)
Car Edwards - He got collected up from Stewart's wreck.
Denny Hamlin - It looked like Jamie McMurray got into Paul Menard then Menard got into Hamlin. Just a victim of circumstance.
Bowyer, Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick all finished in the top 10. Kurt Busch finished 11th.

I haven't looked at any videos yet from the finish of yesterday's race, but I question whether or not Biffle actually crossed the finish line. When he pulled down into the grass, had he crossed it? I have my doubts. Another case of Nascar having so many rules, the rule enforcers can't keep up.
I like Biffle, but don't give him a win if he didn't deserve it.

What about the rain delay??? They cut the race short 50 laps they had a rain delay for how long? I thought that was BS Stewart would have won, No I don't think it was Busch's fault by any means but Stewart would have won. If that was any other driver would they have ended the race with the rain?

Kansas was the waiting game. I patiently waited through a very long rain delay, with no Pats or Sox game to keep me entertained. Then I waited through the cleanup of a multi car pile up that didn't have to happen....especially not for the amount of racing that Nascar was trying to cram into the time they had left. Finally, I waited for the outcome of a two lap shoot-out, the victor of which would be the survivor, and for one day, the best man and machine (manchine?) in the world of Nascar. Here is where I soured. Why is Nascar dictating the outcome of a race? And why did they give us the lame excuse when they just clarified that rule for us (ask Robby Gordon, he'll explain it!) in Canada? I know Greg Biffle can't win the championship and that is a shame. It would be great to see the results of Nascar awarding wins when they feel like doing so. Maybe I can get one if I ask nicely enough? Nonetheless, I am apalled that the pre-rain race was so good that Nascar felt the need to ruin it. I can't wait until this weekend when they have to make legitimate judgement calls due to the pack racing. I'm not so certain that they can handle it.
Anyway, it was good to get that off from my chest. Thank you all for listening.

Another Jr cheap shot. Does his dirty driving come at any circumstance? Nope. Cause he is the favorite son of Nascar. Nothing wrong with Kyle Busch-did not check up.
Biffle was lucky because I would have considered Bowyer the winner.
If I was Zippy I would have had Smoke in for repairs. At least he would have finished the race. Loved the paint scheme on his car- hated what happened to it.

Sal- No cheap shot by me. I say it as I see it. He booted him right out of his way. I think he even apologized for it.

Are you giving Nascar ideas, Son? Give them a few thousand $$$$ and they could pop you in a car at the end of a race of your choosing and declare you the winner.Cool!

Well said ,Jennifer-well said. I appologize also. Not that I am a big fan of Kyle Busch and that I would have been fined quite a bit of change by Nascar, myself, if they had been at my house Sunday.

Yah yah yah- Jr drove right under him gave him a push -done it deliberate. Jr is a cheap driver. He must have forgot that the bumpers of the old car don't line up. He must have forgot that he is only hurting the team he is going to work for. He remembered after though, when the replays show what a dirty embarassment he is to that great looking car. Can't wait for Kahne to get into that car. At least then it won't be tarnished by such poor race driver. Beat a driver in a fair race dont crash someone on purpose, early in a race. Race for position. Get them aero-loose, not contact loose.

I miss the days when no one knew what aero loose was and when you wanted to move someone you did just that. "I didnt want to wreck him, I was just trying to rattle him." As for waiting for Kahne to get into the car, I hope you dont mind waiting for the camera to get a shot of the car.

We're not in Kansas anymore. Tried so hard to figure that mess out it made my head spin. (Tornado Syndrome?)
On to Talladega! I can't wait! Liked what Bill Weber said on Nascar.com,"Hold on to your gas cans at Dega cause someone might light a match."

If I wanted to watch a demolition derby I would go to one, the whole point of a race is to race. Track runners do not run up to the competition and kick them in the back of the knee.
