Fontana thoughts

Did anyone watch the Dale Earnhardt Jr. 500? Seriously, like any other Junior fan, I would love to see him be in the Chase. But even being a fan, I have my limits. It is getting old.

Whether it's talking about him changing his number or him being on the bubble of the Chase... It seemed that if Junior wasn't in the main view he was in the split screen or we were in his in-car camera...uugh!

Jimmie Johnson won at California, his fifth victory of the season. Here's the rundown.

I'll admit I fell asleep toward the end of the race and had to watch the taped version of it in the morning. When I fell asleep, Kyle Busch was leading the race and I was thinking to myself, I will vomit if he wins this race. So I was almost relieved to see that Johnson had won when I checked in the morning.

Here are the point standings after the completion of the AQUOS 500.

Speaking of Kyle Busch, what about him letting the cat out of the bag about Gibbs move to Toyota??? He has so much to learn. Honestly, I really think he should've known better than to take it upon himself to let the media know.

And on a different note, tonight is the airing of "Dale the Movie." It's airing at 8 p.m. on CMT. It looks like it is going to be a pretty good movie. I'm going to watch it. Will you be watching it?

California was certainly a snoozer. I saw the beginning and the ending.
I have to admit I have seen enough of the Junior coverage. The announcers need to realize that there are 42 other drivers in the race. At least we have a reprieve from DW and listening about Junebug" every week.
As for Kyle Busch, do you think he will ever realize how much damage his mouth is doing to his career. Why would he ever think it was his right to make the Toyota announcement!
I was glad to see Kasey Kahne get another top 10 finish. I think now that Ray Evernham is back to the day to day operations we will see a complete turnaround on his teams.

Don't forget the pre-show which starts at 7 p.m. (just prior to the movie). Tonight is the only night it will air. Get your DVRs ready!

junebug8, thanks for posting about the pre-race, ooops, I meant pre-show. I should have included that in the post.

Sally- I couldn't agree with you more about Busch.

UPDATE: Casey Mears is going to be driving the #5 car in 2008 and Tony Eury Jr. will be Jr.'s crew chief next year. No number for Jr. as of yet...

I know, I know...I just got done complaining about all this Jr. stuff, but this announcement was newsworthy.

The Dale movie will be on for 3 nights; 4th 5th and 6th, but the pre-show will be on tonight only. It's a good movie and worth watching. I can't wait until it's out on DVD so I can watch it as much as I want.

You might want to try and meet Kyle in person when you go back to Louden. He's young and stupid but very likeable. Then you'd stop picking on him. Kid drives like crazy and will be a champion one of these years.

I hope Jr doesn't make it. Then maybe they will go to more cars in the Chase next year like they did when Tony didn't get in. Eventually perhaps the Chase will go away. I hate it.

When he stops doing stupid things is when I'll stop "picking on him"

So you don't think what he did was stupid?

Maybe I WILL try to meet him when I'm down there, I am sure he IS a nice guy.

Kyle may be a good kid, but it was still a pretty stupid thing to do. It was not his place or right to alert the media about the car manufacturer change for Gibbs Racing. There's a reason he will not longer be with Hendrick. He needs to think about these things before he opens his mouth.

Every time Kyle or Kurt open their mouths something stupid usually falls out. That's the way they are. Guess I'm just used to that so Kyle saying anything about Toyota and JGR doesn't surprise me. He doesn't work for Gibbs yet, anyway.

What does it matter about what Kyle or any other driver does when it comes to the Media. They are not driving.... Take the pictures, report the facts or at least the facts as they see them.
Toyota was a done deal months ago, its all about money. Kyle Busch is better off without Hendricks. His career is behind the wheel not what he does in front of the camera.

Yeah, let the drivers drive- they make really bad actors.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
