Finally

The 3M Performance 400 at Michigan is history! Kurt Busch won, distancing himself further from Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the point standings.

Junior ended up finishing 12th. I watched bits and pieces of the race here at work. From what I saw it looked like a fairly good race. As I've said before, I'm not much of a fan of Michigan. I have always found it to be a bit of a snoozer.

But from the little bit that I did watch, it looked like one of the more exciting races at Michigan.

Lorne Wallace has a new promotional ad out. It's great. Kurt Busch won, that okay. Tony was in the top 10. Not bad,but by Smoke standards, not good. He doesn't want second in any race. When they all drop to 5,000, All that makes a difference now are those bonus points for a win.
I see that Montoya had another spin, that Harvick couldn't help but comment on.
Also it's about time that Kennseth busted into J.Gordon.Let's hope that Robby Gordon figures out that competition cautions are for everyone to enjoy. Ward Burton lead four laps- Wohoo Wohoo. Bristol Night Race is my favorite.

Jr had the horse power, but made a mistake in the pit. There were other cars, that were a lot better.

Race recap: Kurt Busch is quite arrogant and I cannot stand it when he wins. I was happy to see some good finishes by Bobby Labonte and Matt Kenseth. As for Jr., how about him giving Smoke a push in the closing laps?? He came in 12th and picked up a spot. Do not count him out yet. He won't win the championship this year, but I think we can expect to see some good finishes.

On to Bristol - Thunder Valley!!!

It was a tough race to watch if you are a Jr fan- and it is increasingly hard to say he is a better driver than Truex.

Truex- again in a pressure spot- takes a good car, drives a smooth rave, no mistakes, and is up front all day.

Jr- with the same car in the same pressure spot- drives into walls all day and misses his pit box at a huge point. He did finish twelfth- but he could have easily hit the wall harder any of the the like nine times he hit it- and finished 35th.

Truex is proving you can compete in DEI machines. Jr is proving he can't. He is now going on his second yr out of the Chase- and has made umpteen starts without being a consistent threat to win.

Not only that but Kurt Busch just matched Jr for wins. This off season Hendricks better work on getting all three drivers on even keel or he is going to end up third wheeling -it just like little Busch did.

Hey Jacko -

Not to worry about Junior. He is a talented driver and has proven in the past that he is a threat to win. Obviously, he has gotten away from the the past two years. I think a change of scenery will do him good and you will see a dramatic improvement at Hendrick Motorsports. I am not ready to abandon ship just yet.

E Jr.- I agree with your point, if there is a guy in NASCAR who needs a change in scenery it is #8- and yes, he has won at this level.

It isn't personal. I'm not a fan of Jr.- but I don't dislike him either. But the pressure is square on him now- we know his new team can win- we know his old team can make the Chase if someone other than him is driving- so if he doesn't win and make the Chase in his next 80 or so starts over the next wo plus years- well....

Anyway, I am off on my eight hour drive to Bristol this afternoon. See you at the Food City 250/Sharpie 500.

Maybe - just maybe, Dale Jr. needs a new crew chief. I know the chief has nothing to do with him over shooting the pit area, but he did much better when Eury, Jr. was just on the sidelines!!

Jr just doesn't seem to have that killer instinct as a competitive driver. You would think he would be driving hard and using up his cars. What is step mommy going to do,fire him? Has nothing to do with crew chief- it's a driver issue and a car issue.

Whatever Jacko- maybe its a mommy issue. Maybe she is purposely tanking his engines to make him look bad.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
