All things racing...
Since today is Thursday and the weekend is fast approaching, I thought I would use this space to ask: What are YOU going to be doing for racing fun this weekend?
Here's a forum where you can promote what makes you “tick.” You can link stats, points, various Web sites, and basically anything your heart desires.
I wouldn’t dare dip my toe into a form of racing that I know nothing about. You guys would pounce on me if I made an error.
I am doing this because of e-mail comments I received on Monday when the race got rained out on Sunday. I heard what you said about a lack of racing coverage in our newspaper. If I get enough feedback on this, I may do this more often as we head into each weekend.
I would suggest you set it up so that you receive an e-mail when I update my blog. I think the title on this will always be “All things racing.” I hope this helps.
You can also continue to e-mail me directly. I look forward to learning about various other forms of racing from you.
About the race last night at Eldora... That was so much fun to watch. It is nice to see those guys race and not worry about points. They were all smiles last night. No worries.
As a matter of fact, Ryan Newman and Bill Elliott crashed into each other. Elliott wound up on the roof of his car, and it took several men to flip it upright. He got out laughing and Newman was smiling also. Tony Stewart was right there making sure no one was injured. All in fun. Good ole fashion racing. It was a nice change of pace...

Gonna be a corner worker @ NHIS for WKA go-karts. These guys fly on the 1.6 mile 12 turn road course. Racing starts @ noon both days. What happened to Juan?

Bush race Saturday night at 6:30 on ESPN2. There's a local kid, Bobby Santos III, in his first Bush race. He practices at Beechridge Speedway in Me.

The race last night was very exciting to watch. And the guys did seem to be having a blast.
This weekend? Watching the new broadcast with less commercials!
Great job with the blog Jennifer! While PPH may not do as much as I would like on racing coverage, especially on the local tracks, they do a lot better than some. The blog is a nice addition.

Jennifer, thank you so much for allowing us to promote all forms of motor racing in Maine and in your readership area.
Depending on weather, of course, there is drag racing at Oxford Dragway 1/8 mile (behind the oval), Gates open at 5:00pm Friday night and you can race your own car down the strip or just go and spectate.
Saturday at Oxford Dragway there is the VIP point series with $1,000.00 to win and $1,700.00 total purse. http://www.oxforddragway.com has the details.
There is also racing at Winterport Dragway (1/8 mile)Saturday and Sunday. http://www.winterportdragway.com and at new England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire (1/4 mile track) http://www.newenglanddragway.com
There is a local forum at http://www.northeastdragracing.comprimarily populated by racers who compete at these tracks.
If you want to race, go to one of these wonderful facilities and check it out first hand.

Never liked Waltrip and after his opening cheating scandal. Like him even less. Don't care if he stops racing and I don't think he brings much to the sport other than funny commercials. The next 10 years or so, is where it's gonna be with the young group becoming better at their craft.

Hello Jennifer.
It is great to see someone want to put racing in the Portland paper. I am a huge racing fan. I volunteer at NHIS doing the tours and have done this for 15 years now. I also love to go to Beech Ridge.
Last night was a blast. Thursday Thunder opened with some great racing. If the weather holds out saturday night should also be good with the first apperance of the year for the Whiz Kids. If you do not know what this division is it is for kids (boy & girl) 8-14 years of age. These kids are fantastic and great to watch. you will have to check them out.
you want more info on local racing check out www.maineracing.com forum. it makes for some fun and interesting reading.
