A victory and a loss

It is so exciting when a driver gets his first win. Martin Truex Jr. did this today. It is not that easy watching a race during work, too many distractions.

I sure would have loved to have been able to focus on those last few laps. How exciting. This is the first COT race that hasn’t been won by Hendricks Motor Sports. Here are the unofficial results .

On a sad note, Bill France, Jr. passed away today. He was 74. Here is the link to see the full story..

Dover is almost always one of the better races of the year. It is a unique (not cookie cutter) track that usually gets more than one groove going.

And guys have got to go, be in a hurry. It is a very race-y track- that is to say that 400 laps/miles eliminates that ride in circles effect you get when guys are managing engines (at Pocono, Indianapolis) or fuel mileage (Michigan).

There are at least a half-dozen races in the Cup series that would be well served to cut the race distance back- like Dover did (I remember the 24 hours of Dover). Pocono for sure. Five hundred miles at California and Vegas is too many.

Dover was a bad race at 500 and a good one at 400. I wish more tracks would consider it.

Being an avid NorthEast race fan, it was cool to see Truex finally get his win. Also good to see someone else other than Hendricks get a win in the COT.(I can see the headline now "HAS HENDRICKS LOST ITS EDGE?" give me a brake.) Also happy to be moving on to a different network to watch. Maybe I can actually watch the real cars on the track and not some 3D animation to illustrate what the difference between loose and a push is. I mean, for the most part, if you don't already know, do you really care? While I'm venting, why is Larry Mac so surprised when these trained professionals turn their fastest lap of the day after they've had 4 hours and 400 laps to work on their cars. Well thats my piece for the day, I welcome yours.

Another reason to not like Kurt Busch? Got one ,need one?
Anyone else not like COT ?
Juniors over rated- be nice to see him on respected race team with resources to give him what he wants.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
