Headed South Part 1

The followingare entries from the past few weeks:

6/25/08
Position 67 40.5N 53 33.8W Anchored at the end of a fjord.
Largest lake in Greenland drains into this fjord.
Hiking parties ashore to explore, snowball ambush, etc.
We were scolded by an Arctic fox at our landing site.
Fog is just now clearing.
Leave tonight for Sisimuit.

6/30/08 Position 64 44.8N 52 55.1W All is well. Eric J. birthday! It has been a long hitch from Sisimuit to Nuuk - head winds, lumpy seas, and now calm - has taken over 3 days. We will stop in Nuuk to top off fuel. This may require anchoring overnight to wait for fuel dock to open. Will probably continue south along Greenland coast to Qeqertarsuatsiaq tomorrow to set up for Labrador Sea crossing. If weather looks encouraging, we may leave directly from Nuuk. Ice reports indicate that we should be able to make landfall at Nain, Labrador. The crew is ready to leave Greenland and for the upcoming passage. The Labrador will be our next coast to explore.

7/1/08
Position 64 01.5N 51 39.5W
We are heading S departing Nuuk, Greenland after a night on the hook and topping off our fuel.
Will head S to Qeqertarsuatsiaq @ 63 05N ETA 2330.
Visit village in morning and likely departure for the Labrador tomorrow night.
Will make final decision on departure after reviewing weather.
The sun now sets for about an hour, but it is still always light out.
We will see our first dark night during the crossing.
Currently planning on an arrival @ Nain.
Will need to arrange for clearance into Canada.
Saw seals & whales yesterday, one Right whale and many humpbacks.
All is well.
