Resolved... A new year for style
Lose weight? Goes without saying. Stress less? A perennial wish.
This year I decided to add at least one more resolution: Wear less black.

Granted, it's been a goal for years. Sometimes I'm wildly successful - the fuchsia Lilith coat I scored on eBay last month has made this week's dreary weather much more bearable.
And let's hear it again for colorful scarves - always a quick fix when you-know-who reminds me of my anti-black pledge.
So there: less black, more color. (A perfect excuse to Web shop spring fashions.)
I polled my fashionista friends to see how they’ve resolved to alter their wardrobes for 2008. Their goals were practical and conservative - a reaction to our over-indulgences during the holidays? Maybe, though looming oil and gas bills could be cues for caution.
Have a look:
Be less trendy. Instead of falling for a closet full of the latest trends, buy a few smaller items to update looks.
Keep the funk alive! Rely on basics, but punctuate outfits with funky accents.
Don’t be afraid of color.
Get really dressed up once in awhile. (Just because it’s acceptable to wear a plaid shirt and jeans to Fore Street doesn’t mean we can’t add a little sparkle.)
Pare down – winnow the wardrobe to what we really wear.
Buy clothes that fit and flaunt what we have till it’s gone.
Be more open minded about what’s “acceptable” in Maine.
Be more creative with older clothes.
Mind the closet-cleaning rule - for every new piece of clothing, another piece must go.
Let's add just one more: Admire models, drool over magazines and shop till we drop - but never, ever forget that the best style comes from within.
Happy new year, all.
