Turkey Day series followup

Last month I put out a call for Thanksgiving story ideas. Nobody responded.

Oh well. I think we’ve got an idea anyway for a series to run during the week of Thanksgiving.

The idea came from Tom Bell, a reporter on our business staff who covers marine and waterfront issues: Since travel is such a huge part of the Thanksgiving holiday week, why not produce a series of stories that uses travel as a device to explore families’ memorable Thanksgivings?

We’re intrigued by this idea. It needs to be refined. We need to get some reporters together and brainstorm some story ideas. But it might just work. Let me know if you’ve got any suggestions.

Travel as a theme ? Possible comparison between the longest distance(around the globe) someone traveled to reach family members with the shortest(across the Hall) Or....Nightmare trips VS fun easy jaunts? Maybe first time travelers and their woes versus seasoned travelers who have learned from experience what to expect during that most traveld day of the year.
Most unique form of travel....Bicycled across town balancing the turky on the handle bars. Jumped in my ultra light and flew over to Moms house.
Travel theme should make for some interesting reading.
Luck

Andrew,

This is the first time I have looked at your blog.

How about families who are trying to have Thanksgiving with as much locally grown food as possible?

There has been a growing interest in Local Food.

Or Highlighting a traditional Thanksgiving Feast, and producers in Maine who offer those products.

Or, another food based take. In the vein of Michael Pollan, take a Thanksgiving meal and track down all it's components, and see where it all comes from.
