The buzz about taxes
Tax reform is dead for now in the Legislature, and it appears a lot of you cared about what happened.
Few stories have attracted as much attention at pressherald.com as our tax reform coverage has in the past month.
Thursday’s story, “Revised tax plan 'going nowhere’,” received 5,050 page views, and 101 comments, for example. Wednesday’s story, “Tax package remains in doubt” got 4,048 page views and 66 comments. Tuesday’s response was similar: “Tax plan receives speedy overhaul,” with 3,643 page views and 64 comments.
I don't have total page views yet for today's story - "Lawmakers reject tax overhaul" - but it's on track to rival or even surpass yesterday's story in terms of reader comments. As of this writing there are 75 comments posted.
While unscientific, these numbers give us a sense of what stories are driving readership at our online newspaper. And the comments give us a sense of how people feel about a particular issue, so keep 'em coming.
Who says nobody reads government stories?
